PBR Built Ford Tough Series Express Classic

Wyoming Cowboy wins First Event of Career!



Oklahoma City, Okla. (February 14, 2010) - Jordan Hupp (Cheyenne, Wyo.) came into the Oklahoma City Express Classic as an alternate and finished the weekend with the first BFTS event win of his young career. After putting together three rides in previous rounds and getting first pick in the draft, Hupp pulled out an impressive 90.25 point ride on Buffalo Hump (Hebert Bucking Bulls/Barry & Aliceson Bales) securing the event win. Hupp went home with $31,264.40 for the entire weekend. 

“I’m fired up!” said an excited Hupp after the event. “I’m going to call home. I’m ready to tell everyone and have this all sink in.”  

The Built Ford Tough Championship Round in Oklahoma City proved to be impressive all-around, with five riders making 90-point rides. Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) took first in the short-go with 92.25 points on Spit Fire (Boyd/Floyd Bulls Company) and $2,730. Second place in the round went to veteran Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas), who scored 91.25 points on Black Pearl (Ravenscroft/Boyd-Floyd Bull Company), and walked away $1,950 richer.  

Young gun Clayton Baethge (Johnson City, Texas) went 90.75 points on Far West (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) for third place, while J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.), in preparation for the marathon event in Arlington next weekend, rode Crosswired (D&H Cattle Co./Clifton Wiggins) for 90.50 points. Hupp rounded out the top five in the championship round with his 90.25 point ride on Buffalo Hump (Hebert Bucking Bulls/Barry & Aliceson Bales).  

In the overall event standings, Mike Lee came in a close second behind Hupp, taking home $15,690.40, while Mauney took third and walked away with $18,150.40. Fourth overall went to Clayton Baethge, who won $9,440, and Oliveira placed fifth with $7,620.40.

Cody Campbell suffered a concussion during Round 3. He is questionable to compete in Arlington next week.  

Skeeter Kingsolver has a concussion after getting tossed off of Chin Music (D&H Cattle Company) in Round 3. He is probable for Arlington next week.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:
Jordan Hupp
(Cheyenne, Wyo.) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and won the Express Classic; therefore, collected the $5,000 bonus. The bonus will return to $5,000 at the next event in Arlington, Texas.  The event grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed.  Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.
