Taddy Blazusiak wins the
2009 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series
at the Lazy E Arena

Dominating win in front of another epic battle for second place makes Taddy the only rider eligible for the $50,000 Geico Triple Crown

GUTHRIE, OK (Aug. 15, 2009) – By EnduroCross standards, Red Bull KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak dominated the main event tonight in Guthrie Oklahoma.  But the battle for second was anything but boring as the large crowd cheered on a five rider battle over second that finally went to Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Damon Huffman.  The final spot on the podium went to Zip Ty Racing Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder, a top Canadian off road racer that has been steadily improving his EnduroCross skills over the past year.

Christini KTM mounted Geoff Aaron took forth position ahead of Lucas Oil, Kawasaki backed Colton Haaker and Mike Brown who all held podium positions at one time during the main event.  AmPro FMF Yamaha’s Kyle Redmund battled Mike Brown to the finish but settled for the seventh position ahead of Nick Brozovich, Destry Abbot and Patrick Smage, the current U.S. Trials champion and Jamie Lanza.

Northland Kawasaki’s Jamie Lanza earned the $500 Girardi Wealth management holeshot in the main event but finished eleventh due to a severely twisted brake lever.  Blazusiaki quickly took over the lead and rode a mostly mistake free race until he hit the ground on lap six but still maintained a relatively safe lead.  The battle for the podium was intense with Damon Huffman holding the position early before giving it up to Mike Brown who in turn fell and handed it to Colton Haaker.  It was then Husqvarna’s Graffunder that held the position before giving it up to Huffman who charged back towards the front after crashing twice and falling as far back as fifth.

Ricky Dietrich, the defending EnduroCross champion suffered a foot injury during his qualifying “hot lap” that forced him to the hospital for x-rays during the time that he should have taking part in his heat race.  The x-ray fortunately showed no broken bones but he was unable to compete on this night.  Another notable rider that did not qualify for the main was multi time ArenaCross Champion Josh Demuth, who came up one position short by finishing third in the Last Chance Qualifier but it was an impressive first attempt at EnduroCross.

Local Oklahoman Tony Jonier says he'll get back after it at Guthrie's ( Okla. ) Lazy E Arena EnduroCross

Jonier, 25, a multi-time Oklahoma state enduro champ, is coming off a broken arm that sidelined him for part of the summer - says he's ready for another shot at the main event!

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 7, 2009) - A local Oklahoma City, Okla., pro motorcycle racer will challenge the nation's best enduro, cross country, off-road and trials motorcycle competitors next weekend when round two of the 2009 GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, rolls into Guthrie's Lazy E Arena, Saturday, Aug. 15th.

Tony Jonier, 25, will be the hometown favorite when the expected full house crowd descends upon Guthrie for a spectacular night of motorsports on the sizable Lazy E's rodeo floor. Jonier, who's coming off a broken arm suffered riding earlier this summer, says he hopes to improve upon his 4th place finish in the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) last year when he nearly made the Expert class main event.

"I got pretty close last year. Hopefully I'll be able to limit the mistakes and make the final this year," said Jonier. "The Lazy E EnduroCross is always a fun event for both the participants and fans. If you haven't seen this type of racing before, it's worth checking out."

A multi-time Oklahoma state off-road dirt bike racing champion, Jonier says he hasn't been beat in a local race in more than two years. And he's done pretty well when venturing outside the state line, but not this year because of the broken arm.

"It's (the arm) much better now. Not going to give me any difficulty next Saturday," he says.

When not chasing down pro dirt bike racing prize money, Jonier guides younger riders in his competition off-road motorcycling schools. His sponsors include: House of Kawasaki , Mike's Auto in Del City , Team Green, House of Horsepower, Cannon Racecraft, Tucker Rocky Distribution, MSR and Pro Taper.

Multi-time AMA Arenacross champion Josh Demuth throws his hat into the Guthrie ( Okla. ) GEICO EnduroCross ring!

Can Demuth's motocross skills land him a spot on the challenge Enduro-X podium? Or will he get eaten up by the uber-challenging Lazy E Arena EnduroCross track?

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 10, 2009) - One of Texas' most skilled motocross racers, Josh "The Sheriff" Demuth, says he's going to try his hand at EnduroCross when the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, lands in Guthrie's (Okla.) Lazy E Arena for one big night of off-road motorcycle racing action this Saturday night (Aug. 15).

The multi-time AMA Arenacross champ said he'd been considering riding an AMA EnduroCross for a while now, and was convinced to show up for Guthrie after seeing what went down in Vegas a few weeks ago with the epic finish between KTM's Taddy Blazusiak and Monster/Kawasaki's Ricky Dietrich. "I'm really looking forward to this," said Demuth. "Not really sure what to expect with results, but I know I'm going to have a blast."

The 6'-1" Demuth will definitely enjoy a leverage advantage on the GEICO EnduroCross course. His jumping skills are no doubt paramount, given his two AMA and one BooKoo Arenacross titles. What remains to be seen are his rock-riding skills and whether or not he can handle some of the crazy log crossing obstacles, such as something like the Orleans ' (Vegas) log "Matrix."

"It's always fun to see a big name guy come into GEICO EnduroCross for the first time and get totally humbled," said Source Interlink Media's Mike Karsting. "All the riding skills in the world aren't going to help you much if you're stuck in the E3 Spark Plugs' Boulder Junction or underneath your bike on top of Maxxis' Rocky Mountain . What Josh needs to apply are the skills to keep him out of trouble, keeping in mind sometimes the fastest guy ends up the 'last guy' when he makes one small mistake in GEICO EnduroCross."

Leading Demuth into battle will be Vegas winner, Blazusiak, his KTM-mounted teammate Mike Brown, and the Monster/Kawasaki trio of Dietrich, Destry Abbott and Damon Huffman.

$50,000 GEICO Triple Crown of EnduroCross opens at the Lazy E Arena

A cool $50,000 is on the line for any GEICO Powersports AMA EnduroCross series rider that can pull wins at Guthrie , Okla. , Denver , Colo. , and the series' final round in Las Vegas , Nev.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 4, 2009) - After a stellar opening to the 2009 GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, season in Las Vegas, the popular arena-based off-road motorcycle racing series is about to launch its third-annual GEICO Triple Crown of EnduroCross, with $50,000 in cold, hard cash up for grabs to any rider that can pull off wins at the Guthrie, Okla., Denver, Colo., and Las Vegas, Nev., rounds.

The GEICO Triple Crown trilogy begins next week at Guthrie's Lazy E Arena and the vast majority of the stars that nearly blew the lid off the Orleans Arena a couple weeks ago will be in attendance, ready to get their hands on GEICO's cash!

"Two years ago David Knight literally had 50 grand ripped out of his hands by Taddy Blazusiak," said GEICO Powersports' Eric Vaden. "EnduroCross racing's electrifying enough. GEICO's Triple Crown pretty much puts it over the edge."

Since the GEICO Powersports Triple Crown of EnduroCross' inception in 2006 no racer has been able to step up and collect the bounty. Knight's come the closest, and all reports point to him making another run at it this year, but in the wild and wooly world of EnduroCross racing - and fans that have attended the live events can attest to this - racers can be leading at one moment and then back to 8th place before you can say "I
just lost 50 freakin' grand!"

The 2009 GEICO Powersports $50,000 Triple Crown of EnduroCross will play out at the following EnduroCross series venues:

GEICO AMA EnduroCross opens with a wild one at Vegas’ Orleans – Blazusiak winds up the winner over Dietrich in a photo finish!

Crashes and lead changes throughout the GEICO EnduroCross opener have fans on their feet for the entire main event – 1st could have easily gone to any one of four racers

ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 25, 2009) – In one of the wilder finishes in GEICO Powersports AMA EnduroCross, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, history, KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak beat defending EnduroCross champ Ricky Dietrich (Monster/Kawasaki) over the giant tires finish line in a photo finish that, depending on where you were sitting in Vegas’ Orleans Arena, could have gone either way.

“It’s all about racing and that’s why I love it,” said an elated Blazusiak from the podium. “If my goal was not to win I could stay at home.”

Any one of four racers, including KTM’s Mike Brown and Kawasaki-mounted Colton Haaker, could have won tonight’s Expert class main event. Amazingly, during the last couple laps of the final each one of the aforementioned racers did lead for a time. And Dietrich’s charge to the giant finish tires to catch Blazusiak will be the stuff of legend as GEICO EnduroCross continues to gain momentum with its often impossible-to-believe racing action.

“I just rolled my eyes into the back of my head and absolutely pinned it,” said Dietrich of his charge to the checkers.

Moments earlier Brown had the lead. “Truth? I didn’t even know I was in 1st place,” admitted Brown after wading through the crashes, passes and throw-aways to the third and final podium spot behind Dietrich and Blazusiak.

Pulling the $500 Girardi Holeshot Award, Blazusiak raced out to an early lead, properly navigating such features as the E3 Spark Plugs Rock Quarry Corner and the Monster Energy Matrix – a series of off-set logs with bridged boards bolted in-between. Dietrich, who’s been splitting time between the Lucas Oil MX Nationals and WORCS, caught and briefly passed Blazusiak early, only to bobble and allow Blazusiak to go up by four seconds. And just when fans thought that Blazusiak, Dietrich and Haaker would settle in for a 1-2-3 finish in the eight-lap main, all heck broke loose when Blazusiak dive bombed his KTM into the Maxxis Water Hole and went for an untimely swim! Haaker quickly took the lead, only to auger in moments later and bend his bars/clutch lever. Brown would then take over the lead, only to be passed by Dietrich as the white flag flew. And the Orleans Arena was going bananas!

With the race his to lose, Dietrich did just that – putting his Monster/Kawasaki KX250F on its side while crossing a seemingly simple single log section. “It came down to who made the last mistake and I threw it away,” said a completely spent and disgusted Dietrich.

“That was an awesome race,” said Dietrich.

But there was still more to come.

With Blazusiak back in the lead, he would crash down the side of one of the two Moose Racing Rock Mountains as Dietrich blitzed back towards him. And in one final burst of adrenaline that will no doubt have the packed house returning for the second Orleans round later in November (21st), Dietrich caught Blazusiak at the final giant tire crossing finish line and, well, you’ll just have to check out the finish when it airs on TV. Stay tuned to www.endurocross.com air times and channel!

AMA Geico EnduroCross Championship Announces 2009 Schedule

Unique off-road motorcycle racing series begins its third competition year starting this July at Las Vegas Orleans Arena

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2009) Officials at Source Interlink Media Motorsports are pleased to announce today the 2009 AMA EnduroCross Championship schedule. Beginning at the birthplace of Endurocross – Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena – and culminating at the same fan-packed venue this November, EnduroCross will feature four additional action-packed rounds throughout the summer and fall so fans nationwide can get a chance to see this cutting edge form of racing, which brings to a total of six rounds that’ll make up this year’s EnduroCross Championship.

"The vision we had four years ago for the sport of EnduroCross has come to fruition and is now a mainstay on the AMA’s competition circuit – so we couldn’t be happier with that," said EnduroCross founder Eric Peronnard. "But the best thing about EnduroCross is the reaction we get from the fans. Time after time I hear ‘I can’t wait to bring some more of my buddies back to this event next year.’ It’s really one of those things you have to see in person to believe."

After opening in Vegas the AMA EnduroCross Championship moves to the heartland of the United StatesGuthrie, Oklahoma’s Lazy E Arena - for the series’ lone event in August. The following month it’s all the way over to the East Coast for a return event at South Carolina’s famed Florence Civic Center.

Moving back into the Midwest, not far from the AMA’s headquarters, Endurocross will once again invade the campus of Ohio State University for a rip-roarin’ contest at the Schottenstein Center. A three week break for the riders and it’s right back to action at Denver’s National Western Complex for the penultimate round of EnduroCross.

Wrapping up the EnduroCross title for one lucky racer will no doubt come down to the last race again as the series reconvenes for one final throw down – packing the opening round’s venue, The Orleans, to the brim with fans to witness the world’s top off-road motorcycle competitors battling for the coveted EnduroCross crown.

"The 2009 AMA EnduroCross Championship schedule puts indoor off-road racing in regions across the United States that represent many of the top markets for off-road bike and aftermarket product sales," added Mike Karsting, VP of Events for Source Interlink Media. "So our industry sponsor base is solid again this year and we’re looking forward to delivering an event that’s turned into a ‘happening’ of sorts for off-road motorcycle enthusiasts across the nation."

The 2009 AMA EnduroCross Championship schedule:

Date City/State Venue
